A beautiful and gigantic Garden Spider (Argiope aurantia) continues to take up shop in my lavender.
This apparently six foot mutant tarantula made attempts to break into my house this afternoon. The authorities were called and my sword of enchantment was charged up by my local wizard.
While watching the Democratic debates tonight, I was joined by this amazing tiny 3/16″ Southern Pink Moth (Pyrausta inornatalis Fernald, 1885). She was bored by the politics of man and flew away. But not before I got my little macro lens onto my smartphone!
That little pink moth is spectacular! Don’t have those up north.
Are you sure? They’re easy to miss. Super tiny. I never looked up their range though… To the Interwebs!
this pink moth is great. Never seen anything like it… And very brave, how you survived the tarantula attack 🙂
Well, the sword was enchanted. So I had a leg up. Always know where your closest wizard/warlock resides. Gardening tip of the day.
🙂
Love the pink moth, it’s beautiful. Now, “six foot mutant tarantula” and “beautiful and gigantic Garden Spider”…they don’t go well on the same sentence. I’m full of goosebumps! Uh…those legs..
No. No. No.
Haha, I hear you. I’m actually arachniphobic so they give me the heebie jeebies as well. But I’m working on it. Irrational fear is nothing to feed. But… I hear ya.
Amazing color in that moth! We seem to only get the little tan ones around here!
I was pretty impressed as well. It’s so easy to miss so maybe you do have then in your area.
