Sailing in Lieu of Gardening

I was invited to go sailing today despite a growing list of yard chores that needed doing. The healthy rains have caused a mass influx of weeds throughout the yard. I looked at them in frustration this morning trying to figure out a plan of attack.

Then, a phone call changed all that. Next thing you know, we’re on the sea and enjoying a beautiful warm sunny day. The water was calm and gorgeous. And Sasha was able to get her very first boat experience! She loved it.

Watching Sasha try to navigate the narrow walkways on a rolling and rocking sailboat was too endearing for words. Her bum back legs failed her once or twice. But it never got her spirit down and she kept on trying.

Sasha and Noe were so good together all day long. Perfect pack mentality and Sasha even helped encourage Noe to not be too scared of the boats motor and come up on deck to get some sun and belly rubs.

So, there’s a post on a gardening blog that has nothing to do with gardening. I hope you don’t mind this escape from the normal Mind Your Dirt programing. Also, I apologize to all my friends out there in the bitter cold and dark skies of a freezing winter. I won’t rub it in and tell you that I was in a tee-shirt for most of the day. In January. On a boat.

    1. Yes, right in the middle of winter in fact. Winter in San Diego is quite manageable. Chilly at night, but the days can reach high 70’s at times. I am indeed blessed! Though, it wasn’t by accident that I moved from Buffalo to San Diego. Quite intentional.

  1. It may be more accurate to say you went “motoring in lieu of gardening” (sigh), but in any case, I’m glad you, Nury, and Sasha had fun! Thanks for getting Noe to relax on the boat. We’ll have to take you guys for a REAL sail sometime. And I have more pictures to send you…

    1. Ugh, how do I edit a comment? That was me, Nara. I’m sure you would have spent your whole life wondering who the eff “Naraa” is if I hadn’t clarified…so, you’re welcome.
